“Knox County Schools’ ProjectU is student-led, focused on building unity and promoting kindness. District data reveals suicide and suicidal ideation has increased, with one high school losing 6 students, either current or recent alumni, in a year. Kids Equipped Empowered to Prepare Everyone for Resilience (KEEPER) expands ProjectU in 5 schools creating additional focus on social emotional learning and resilience. KEEPER provides staff and students opportunities to develop skills for social and personal competencies around suicide awareness, prevention and resilience. Mentoring provides practical and technical support to address student’s trauma and disconnectedness from COVID-19. KEEPER professional development will equip staff.”
