“Founded by the Community Association of Progressive Dominicans (ACDP) twenty years ago, Amber Charter Schools is pleased to be a new SEL in Action awardee. Sashemani Elliot, Chief Academic Officer, will lead our efforts to enhance our socio-emotional learning opportunities. Our conversations with families confirm that while resilient, our families and children are experiencing the extreme trauma and stress of COVID-19 in NYC, with communities of color hit the hardest. Proactively we will create a strategically tiered response system for ongoing counseling including hosting virtual small groups focused on healing trauma for children and for caregivers/families.”
