“In partnership with Ravenwood, Whitefish Independent High School and Helena Flats School District will provide SEL-centered experiences called the WIHS and Helena Flats Nature Programs, respectively. Students will have a connecting experience with nature, each other, and expert mentors who will guide them through the learning process.
The curriculum includes nature observation skills, cooperative projects, and traditional Indigenous stories drawn from the Ravenwood staff’s personal background.
The Nature Programs will set a precedent of anti-racist, inclusionary learning and fulfill Montana’s Indian Education For All requirements to learn about local Indigenous cultures. Additional SEL strategies include collaboration, mindfulness, and group reflection.”
