“Our project is a three full-day Cultural Proficiency Workshop organized in coordination with the HCPSS Department of Diversity, Equity and Inclusion where Hammond staff and students will participate as equal stakeholders as they engage in critical conversations that will support awareness of one’s responses to issues regarding race, class, and culture. The workshop will provide an opportunity for staff and students to build relationships founded on trust and move toward an exploration of how issues regarding diversity impact the Hammond High community and society as a whole. The final day of the workshop focuses on providing an opportunity for students to generate and plan initiatives that can enhance the school’s ability to meet the social and emotional needs of culturally diverse groups at Hammond High School.”
