“Students learn and practice mindfulness strategies and healthy plant-based diets while exploring green spaces in the Chicagoland area using principles of forest therapy. Students will have weekly mentoring sessions that include individual, small group and large group activities that encourage students to observe and think critically about their environment, self-reflect, communicate effectively verbally and non-verbally, problem solve, self-advocate, discover and develop their personal gifts and find purpose and direction in their lives, specifically with self-care, education and service to others, culminating in students creating a service learning project to bring these values back to their community.”
