“Chicago Public Schools (CPS) is working to transform into a more trauma-engaged, culturally-responsive district. As part of our new Transforming Bias-based Harm initiative and framework, we have committed to doing preventative work that shifts school climate and culture toward student and staff well-being that is rooted in equity, inclusivity, and belonging. To be effective in this endeavor we must focus on student voice, involvement, and leadership. Our Youth Leadership Summit and Civil Rights Scholars pilots will support the development of students as leaders with a focus on addressing social justice issues and working for collective-wellbeing.”
