“Washington Yu Ying PCS will implement the Early Childhood Action Project: Chinese Immersion and Social Emotional Learning in the 2021-22 school year. Through a 75/25 Mandarin-English immersion model, SEL teacher PD and the use of Mandarin Chinese SEL curricular materials, Yu Ying will integrate social and emotional learning into Yu Ying’s early childhood classrooms. Integrating SEL early will lead to more confident students, more collaborative communities and a stronger sense of belonging for all. With this focus, we anticipate seeing more trends towards fewer social and behavioral challenges as students progress through the elementary years.”
