While negotiating new roles/identities in new cultural contexts, refugee students often struggle with social awareness and relationship skills in addition to academics. The FCPS after-school Refugee Outreach Club (ROC) uses an interconnected systems framework to integrate PBIS and Trauma-Informed School Mental Health practices to improve student social-emotional skills, attitudes, behavior and academic outcomes at 2 elementary schools. Participants will improve their social and emotional skills, attitudes, behaviors and academic performance. Professional learning will support staff working with refugee students struggling with stress and trauma. At least one Parent Night will support parents with guidance on school expectations, routines and processes.
