IDEA Public Schools New Orleans' commitment to developing a trauma-informed after-school program is fueled by the awareness of trauma in the everyday lives of our students and New Orleans community. Through the infusion of literacy, leadership and social and emotional learning instruction, our goal is to provide 5th, 6th and 7th grade girls of color with the comprehensive social supports and character skills necessary to manage emotions, improve self-confidence, develop empathy and set positive goals for success in college, career and life.
