Old Sturbridge Academy Charter Public School
Sturbridge, MA
“Old Sturbridge Academy will use mindfulness programming to help students, educators and families develop and strengthen internal capacities for self-awareness, self-management, social awareness, relationship skills and responsible decision-making. Faculty professional development will increase SEL competencies among staff. Workshops for parents/caregivers will increase SEL competencies in families and reinforce what is modeled and taught at school. Establishing a Mindfulness Club at school will further empower students to take personal responsibility for themselves and to share what they learn with peers. Access to nature trails will help students, faculty and families connect with and use nature to reduce stress and increase awareness.”
