“ASD proposes scaling up the past three years of after-school film workshops for students in order to develop a larger film workshop program that engages students in culturally responsive, trauma-informed SEL best practices through stories and documentaries that communicate real-life conflict resolution. Through this project, approximately 30 participating Alaska Native and English Language Learners will each create a documentary and a first-person story that explores a real-life conflict and resolution. They will interview peers and community members, develop stories and share them at a culminating community film and story screening.ASD proposes scaling up the past three years of after-school film workshops for students in order to develop a larger film workshop program that engages students in culturally responsive, trauma-informed SEL best practices through stories and documentaries that communicate real-life conflict resolution.
