“Fly By Light uniquely builds students’ skills in SEL, resilience, empathy, leadership and social change, empowering them to create healthier, more compassionate communities. Furthermore, OCU's Intention Room initiative provides an innovative, alternative space for in-school suspension and an effective strategy for preventing long-term out-of-school suspension. Within the Intention Room, students explore SEL core competencies, restorative justice practices, art and music therapy, and mindfulness to address the challenges they face in their daily lives. Finally, Fly By Light will host quarterly family engagement sessions for 200 parents and family members to strengthen parent/youth relationships and equip parents with skills related to emotional awareness, trauma informed care, and more.”
