“Bringing in successful Afro-Latina professionals and having them work with the girls will open their minds and horizons to what possibilities the future holds. Each Afro-Latina will speak and hold a workshop about their professional path. This will enable the girls to encounter a career they may not have known before and to tinker—they get hands-on experience to discover and experiment with the different career possibilities (writing, entrepreneurship, STEM, etc.). Meeting these women will help the girls in building self-awareness, social awareness, and finding a sense of integrated identity within the framework of their ethnic-racial identity (ERI).”
