Practice Makes Perfect
The SEL Blog
“Get L.I.T.” Literature Circles will extend beyond the classroom and foster positive relationships for students, school staff and families. The characters and stories in our books will be based on accurate representations of people of color, focusing on African-American and Latinx cultures. We will highlight SEL competencies in each story and choose stories that send messages of resilience. Our goal is to provide culturally-relevant SEL practices to those that often feel excluded from the school community due to punitive discipline practices and help adults engage in perspective-taking tasks.
